Our First Pollinator Garden in Danehy Park
We’re excited to launch our very first pollinator garden in Danehy Park—a welcoming space for both people and pollinators to enjoy!
This project is part of a growing movement to restore biodiversity in our cities. Across the country, native species are declining, pollinator populations are under pressure, and ecosystems are becoming more fragile in the face of climate change. By planting native species that support pollinators, we help protect the foundation of the food web—and bring vital ecological function back into our shared green spaces. We also hope to inspire neighbors to bring native plants into their own gardens and deepen community appreciation for native ecosystems throughout the city.
Planting was postponed throughout 2024 due to a methane emergency, but we’re now back on track and making steady progress. Our team is currently focused on designing the garden and finalizing technical details in close collaboration with the City of Cambridge.
Planting Day is currently scheduled for Saturday, June 7th, and we’re building a team of volunteers to help bring the garden to life. We’ll need support with soil preparation ahead of planting day, as well as planting and ongoing care—like watering and weeding—throughout the growing season.
Whether you’re available for just a day or all summer long, we’d love to have you on board! Let’s grow something beautiful together.

First Pollinator Garden Planting in Cambridge
On September 28, 2024, we were thrilled to install our very first pollinator garden in the City of Cambridge—at the beautiful Fresh Pond Reservation!
This new planting builds on an existing pollinator strip that park rangers began a few years ago, located along the Cambridge-Watertown Greenway. With the energetic support of a local Cambridge Scout troop, we removed turf and planted 56 native plants to expand this important habitat.
A big thank-you to Ranger Tim for coordinating the event and welcoming us to Fresh Pond Reservation, and an even bigger shoutout to the scouts for bringing their energy, curiosity, and enthusiasm for native plants. You made this day a great success!

The Cambridge Moth Ball
We are thrilled to announce a Cambridge Moth Ball on Wednesday, July 24th from 7 to 9:30 pm at Kingsley Park in Fresh Pond Reservation! Get a chance to see pollinator moths up close, marveling at their amazing variety of colors, and learning their crucial role in local ecosystems and the food chain.
